Delta Upsilon Hosts First "D'U Got Talent?" Philanthropy

On March 18, 2010, Delta Upsilon held its first-ever "D'U Got Talent?" philanthropy at Skyy Nite Club. The event featured a talent showcase of Greek and campus organizations. Over $1,700 was raised and the proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Alachua County. Congratulations to all the winners, including the winners of the talent competition, Pi Beta Phi, the overall champions, Delta Delta Delta, and the new DU Darling, Cara Huntley of Sigma Kappa. Thank you to everyone who participated and showed their support for this great cause!

2010 Regional Leadership Seminar

This year the Regional Leadership Seminar for DU Province 4 was hosted by the Georgia Tech chapter in Atlanta, GA. Delta Upsilon members from across the southeast enjoyed a beautiful Saturday in the ATL by spending time with their brothers. Facilitators from DU chapters across the country provided guidance throughout the conference and they helped coordinate discussions on how to improve our chapters in various areas. Eighteen members from our chapter attended the seminar, which was the highest turnout from any chapter.

Wine and Cheese Night

On Wednesday, February 24, VP of Member Education Joshua Fletcher hosted an event called “DU Wine and Cheese Mixer”. Interested members and guests were invited to taste 10 different kinds of wine ranging from whites to dark wines. The purpose was to learn how to properly taste and distinguish the different kinds of wines. During the event, discussions on modern social issues and outcomes for the future were held. The event turned out very successful with 30 brothers and 10 guests attending.

DU Wins Big During Greek Week

As part of Team Dionysus, Delta Upsilon was named Greek Week 2010 Overall Champions and the chapter itself received 1st place overall in IFC.  Throughout the week, brothers showed tremendous support and enthusiasm for each and every event and all their hard work paid off with two new big trophies to add to the growing collection.

DU Cleans Up Ocala National Forest

As part of Disney's Give a Day, Get a Day Service Drive, 27 DU brothers took time out of their busy lives to make the Ocala National Forest cleaner on January 23rd. Service Chair Kevin Brown says, "The Men of DU worked diligently on this day, waking up before dawn, and going out to Ocala to make it a nicer place for others to enjoy. It makes me proud to be a DU and be with brothers who want to better the world." As a result of their efforts, each of the brothers will receive a complementary ticket to Disney World in Orlando and a social event is planned for later this semester.

Spring 2010 Rush Week

This semester’s rush was very successful.  Rush ran from January 10th to the 15th and included events such as Casino Night, Greek Night, Around the World Cuisine, and Brotherhood Night where Steve O’Grady and the brothers shared memorable stories of their time at DU.  The chapter’s membership is now at 56 members including 9 new associate members.

Delta Upsilon participated in Gators March For Babies 5K walk to raise awareness about prematurely born babies. We also raised $210 to benefit the March of Dimes.
